SA Wingless Sprints Series Starts As State V
State
Ross Allen posted Friday November 20,
2009.

The opening round of the Parr Motorsports Wingless Sprints Southern
Shootout Series looms as a South Australia v Victoria clash. Thirty
drivers have nominated for the first round of the series at
Borderline Speedway, Mount Gambier on Saturday night.
The nomination list is made up of 16 cars from Wingless Sprints
Victoria and 14 cars from the home state Wingless Sprints South
Australia and whilst the drivers will be competing individually to
bag the big points for the series, there is sure to be State pride
on the drivers’ minds.
Series organizers are extremely pleased with the list of nominations
that includes the current National Wingless Sprints #1 and #2 plus
last year’s Southern Shootout Series winner and runner-up.
Current Australian Wingless Sprints champion and South Australian
Wingless Sprints champion Rory Button will be competing and will
come up against current Australian Wingless Sprints #2 Brad Warren
from Victoria. Button is well aware that Warren will be anxious to
turn the tables from last season’s National title event.
Last year’s Southern Series Shootout Series winner, Todd Wigzell
from South Australia, is out to defend his series title, whilst last
year’s series runner up, South Australia’s Cory Hodgson will be
aiming to climb to the top of the ladder in this year’s series.
Drivers are keen to start the seven round series off with a bang,
knowing how important it is to start well in this format of
competition. In-form drivers Adam Sealey and Darryl Bottams, both
from South Australia, and Freddy Walsh, Phil Micaliff and Steve
Trigg from Victoria are all expected to be in the mix.
With a big break before the second round of the series at Timmis
Speedway, Mildura on 16 January, the racing for Saturday night’s
opening round at Borderline Speedway, Mount Gambier is expected to
be fast and furious.
