First year driver Mark Bennett
in the Race Craft Designs sponsored car who was involved in a
confusing incident during the early stages of the final round of the
Parr Motorsports Southern Shootout series last Saturday night at
Waikerie is on the road to recovery.
The incident occurred in the A Main event for
Wingless Sprints as the field was completing their first lap. The
car driven by Bennett came in contact with another car in the main
straight causing the rear of the s8 car to launch into the air,
causing heavy contact and leaving the driver motionless for a short
time. Bennett mentioned later, that he knew he was in trouble once
the car landed heavily onto the track and he was later found to have
severe bruising to his sternum and a badly bruised back.
Bennett was taken to Waikerie hospital for a precautionary check up
and was released sometime later. Mark Bennett would like to thank
the St John personnel, for their professional care. Also a huge
"Thank You" to everyone who has called, emailed or text messaged me,
also to the Bennett team for getting our gear back to Adelaide
safely. This is a great class of speedway and its always nice to
know that people are concerned for each others safety. The team is
looking forward to racing again ASAP.
