After being a last minute inclusion to the meeting, 8 Wingless
Sprints competed at Murray Bridge Speedway on Sunday afternoon,
the 8th of January. The Wingless Sprints were scheduled to race
at Speedway City the night before, but rain cancelled the
meeting just before racing was scheduled to begin. Murray Bridge
was also affected on Saturday night and decided to postpone
their meeting until the Sunday which allowed the inclusion of
the Wingless Sprints to the schedule.
Todd Wigzell took the victory in the 15 lap feature. After
starting from pole position, Wigzell led from the green flag.
Wigzell was able to hold his lead on both restarts to take the
win. Cody Atkins followed behind Wigzell in 2nd place after
starting alongside him on the front row. Mikayla Hein started
from 3rd and maintained her position to round out the podium.
After dropping back to 5th place at the start of the race,
Jarman Dalitz finished behind Hein in 4th place. Dalitz tried to
find a way past on the restarts but was unable to make a pass.
Joel Chadwick finished in 5th place after being passed by Dalitz
before the 1st restart of the race.
Jason Demaine finished in 6th place after being involved in an
incident with Brett Bartley on lap 3. Robert Heard finished 7th
after spinning on lap 2 and then being involved in an incident
with Bartley on lap 10. Brett Bartley did not finish after he
was involved in the incident on lap 10.
In the heat race Jarman Dalitz took out the opening heat ahead
of Cody Atkins and Mikayla Hein. The 2nd heat saw Todd Wigzell
win ahead of Joel Chadwick and Mikayla Hein.
The Wingless Sprints will return to Murray Bridge Speedway for
their next meeting on the 21st of January.
