11 Wingless Sprints were on hand at Murray Bridge Speedway last
Saturday, January 21st to compete at the tracks club show.
Mikayla Hein came from the 7th starting position to take victory
in the 15 lap race. Hein benefited from a first corner incident
which claimed front row starting, Joel Chadwick, Shannon Barry
who started from 5th and Greg Cunningham who started 10th. After
that Hein worked her way to the front throughout the race,
taking the lead with 2 laps remaining.
Daniel Obst finished in 2nd place after leading for majority of
the race. Obst inherited a front row start after Joel Chadwick
was unable to continue and took the lead in the opening laps.
Jarman Dalitz finished 3rd after starting in pole position.
Dalitz was able to take the lead at the start and was involved
in a hard battle with Obst for the lead in the opening laps
before settling in behind Obst.
After starting in 3rd position, Cody Atkins finished in 4th
place. Atkins was keeping up with the front runners until he
encountered a problem which hampered his cars performance. Jason
Gantz rounded out the top 5 in his Wingless Sprint debut.
Starting from 8th position, Gantz drove a clean race to stay out
of trouble and score a good result.
Simon Lee finished in 6th place after starting from 9th and Lucy
Evans finished 7th after starting from 6th place. Joel Chadwick,
Shannon Barry and Greg Cunningham all failed to finish, while
Brad Evans was unable to start the feature.
The Wingless Sprints will return to action when they compete in
the 2nd round of the Oval Track Imports Wingless Sprint Series
at Renmark’s Riverland Speedway on the 4th of February.
